Virginia Beach, Va. – Throughout the month of December, Chartway Federal Credit Union and its divisions of HeritageWest and SouthWest Community Credit Unions took action for numerous charitable drives.

Chartway employees helped to purchase gifts for nearly 600 children at an elementary school, donated nearly 3,000 presents to the Toys for Tots program, delivered shoes, socks, and other necessities to struggling families, and donated meals to local food banks.

The credit union’s charitable foundation – the We Promise Foundation – also raised funds for children battling life-threatening illnesses, enabling it to donate $924,300 to charitable organizations who share its mission.

“I am so proud of our employees and our members, and deeply grateful to all those who believe in and support our culture of caring,” said Ron Burniske, president and CEO of Chartway Federal Credit Union and its division of HeritageWest and SouthWest Community.

“Making a difference is at the heart of who we are. As I reflect back on the ways we have been able to do just that this holiday season and all year round, I am humbly reminded that there really is no place like this remarkable place. It’s a rare gift to be able to work with people who take every opportunity to do good, and carry the spirit of this season with them each and every day.”
