Suffolk, Va. - A Suffolk judge told a courtroom today that if Ronald Quesenberry would have just obeyed the law, an accident that killed Tommy Rush on Route 460 never would have happened.

That judge then denied bond for Quesenberry who's facing several charges including felony homicide, involuntary manslaughter, driving with a suspended license because of a DUI, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle without certified ignition interlock system.

The crash happened back in September and Quesenberry was directly indicted almost two months later.

Monday in court, his fiancée pleaded to the judge to allow him out on bond saying he was the only income for their family, and she didn’t want him to miss out on the first year of their 8-week-old baby’s life.

She also said that the day of the crash, he was driving her car because he sold his car to pay for fines and an ignition interlock system for a previous DUI.

But a prosecuting attorney says she was the one who sold her car to pay for the fees.

The crash happened just after 7 in the morning. Prosecutors told the judge that Quesenberry told officers he stopped drinking alcohol around 8 pm the night before.

A defense attorney says they’ll prove alcohol didn’t play a role in the wreck that left truck driver, Tommy Rush dead and injured six other people.

Quesenberry is charged with felony homicide because of the unintentional death of someone else while reckless driving, which is a felony charge.

The prosecuting attorney said today that police interviewed 16 people who saw the crash and both sides plan to bring witnesses to the stand.
