Update:  The Virginia Beach holiday parade will go on as scheduled this evening.

Virginia Beach, Va. - It was a beautiful, yet windy day at the Oceanfront on Friday. It felt like spring.

Tomorrow, not so much. Rain could make for a soggy holiday parade.

Saturday's holiday parade gives the chance for summer-like crowds.

“Being a small business we need those kind of events to bring people down to the Oceanfront,” says Carter Boykin of Lola’s.

“Sometimes the winter months are more important than the peak months because we have employees who still have jobs and still have bills so we want to keep everyone employed during the winter, says Bob Ruloff, owner of All American Yogurt.

A cold rain is expected Saturday. For now, Beach Street USA, which is throwing the 10-block holiday celebration, says they still plan on parading down Atlantic Avenue.

“[We] sort of make weather decisions as late as possible. We tend to hold off on those, unless it's a situation where the weather is absolutely unsafe,” says Mike Hilton with Beach Street USA.

At 11 am, they'll make the final call for the 5:30 parade.

10-15 thousand normally show up every year.

Ruloff would take that, especially with the looming rain.

"Come down bring your umbrellas. Support us, we need your help, rain, snow, sleet or hail, support us," says Ruloff.

The make-up date is usually the following day if Saturday’s forecast is bad. Sunday's is nasty.

So for this year, it's Saturday or bust.
