Fort Eustis Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony tonight

Fort Eustis, Va. – Senior Commander Army Element, Fort Eustis will host the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013, to initiate the holiday season for the Fort Eustis Community.

The ceremony will begin in the 733rd Mission Support Group building 705, Wylie Theater and move to Seay Plaza to view the tree lighting.

Inside festivities will include entertainment from the Girl Scouts Choir, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band and opening remarks from Maj. Gen. Ross E. Ridge, Initial Military Training deputy commanding general.

Outside festivities will include throwing the switch to light a decorated UH-1H helicopter, locomotive, Christmas tree, snowman, giant candy canes and a reindeer and sleigh.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be arriving on a fire truck to greet all.

The ceremony will then move to an enclosed tent within Seay plaza to greet Santa, participate in arts and crafts, food and fun.

William Galbraith, 733 rd Mission Support Group Commander.
