Newport News, Va. - Surveillance video recorded at an ATM in Newport News shows a scary scene.  A woman had just finished making a deposit when a man suddenly shoves a gun in her face and demands money.

"He was being very vulgar, calling me names, just very scary, very scary," said Lisa, who asked to only be identified by her first name.

It happened on Nov. 9 around 10 p.m. at the Wells Fargo at City Center, located at the intersection of Jefferson Ave. and Thimble Shoals.

She told the robber she didn't have any money and tried to get her ATM card back, but the man kept shoving his gun within inches of her face.

Eventually he gets $40 from her and Lisa made the quick decision to try to get away.

"I just wanted to make it out of there alive," Lisa said, "I didn't even look at the gun anymore.  I just reached my hand down and put [my car] into gear and took off, praying."

What you don't see in the surveillance video after that, is that the situation gets worse.

Only able to get $40 from her, the man started shooting.

Two of the shots missed, but one hit the back of her car.

With the man who robbed her still out there, she's afraid it could happen to someone else.

The man's face is difficult to see in the video, so Lisa is hoping nearby businesses will take a look at their own surveillance video from that night, in case there's anything that can help police catch him.

Until then, she has a message for the man who robbed her.

"I'm working two jobs just to try make ends meet.  I work hard for what I make - get a job."
