Like any other three-year-old, Zeq Caalim has a favorite toy.
"Monster trucks go 'vroooom'!!!!" Zeq said.
However, unlike most kids his age, Zeq has a rare disorder that causes him to have a severe allergic reaction to nearly every food you can think of.
Eosinophilic Esophagitis attacks food like it's a parasite inside Zeq's body.
Zeq spends days at a time getting treatment at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Before he sees doctors, his mother makes sure he prays. One time, she said he prayed for something else instead.
"I meant to say, pray that you'll have a good day, he said, I pray for monster truck," said his mother Kristine.
NewsChannel 3 took action Thursday to surprise Zeq and his family with tickets to the Monster Jam in at the Hampton Coliseum Friday.
"It gives him a time to just relax and be an average three-year-old," his mother said.
The cost of treating Zeq is a burden on the family, with portions of his expenses not covered by health insurance. People who wish to donate can purchase shirts and wristbandsonline or visit the Big Kahuna restaurant on Princess Anne in Virginia Beach.
