New details are emerging about the Virginia Beach man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in York County after the two met through social media.

NewsChannel 3 obtained court documents that say the girl’s attacker took a souvenir from the crime – the girl’s underwear.

Police say Michael Baigert and the teen girl first started talking through a messaging app called "Kik."

Those messages, according to investigators, eventually led the two to meet, and then to rape charges. In search-warrant affidavits, police lay out how they pieced together the girl's account with the social-media trail to charge Baigert with the crime.

Investigators wrote that the girl and a man she knew as Mike frequently talked about sex, and she sent nude pictures.

The affidavits say Mike, who police later identified as Michael Baigert of Virginia Beach, convinced the girl to meet, and he drove to her home in York County on Aug. 27.

The affidavit says the two went for a walk in the woods. The teen said the man then raped her, and took her underwear.

Police say they were able to identify the attacker, in part, because he sent her a picture of himself with his car, and the picture included the license plate. The affidavits also say police matched the pictures sent through the messaging service with Baigert's DMV picture.

Michael Baigert is still locked up in jail. Now investigators are trying to find out if there are any other victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
