Portsmouth, Va. – On Friday, HAZMAT crews were called out to a lake in Portsmouth after neighbors reported a smell coming from the water.

They say this happened at around 5 p.m.

Fire officials were notified at 8 p.m. and they responded to the scene in the 1600 block of City Park Avenue at Lake Collins.

They tested the area but did not find anything.

Officials say they received a picture of what looked like oil on the lake from a resident. They say it may have been cooking oil. No real hazard was found.
