Chesapeake, Va. - A 4-year-old girl was found safe in Chesapeake early Sunday after allegedly being abducted by her mother on Saturday.

An AMBER Alert was issued for 4-year-old Neviah Faith Dobson on Saturday after her caretaker told police that her mother, Shelby Nichole Dobson, had not returned with her after a supervised visit.

As police investigated, they found that Shelby Dobson's  vehicle was not at her residence and that she had taken her clothes, and Neviah's clothes and toys from the home.

Charges were filed against Shelby Dobson for child abduction and a secured custody order was issued for Neviah by the Department of Social Services. The AMBER Alert was announced shortly afterwards.

Kelly O'Sullivan with Chesapeake Police says they were notified around 4:30am Sunday that Neviah and her mother might be at a residence in the 1500 block of Campostella Rd. Officers checked and they were there.

Shelby Dobson was arrested.

Officials from the Kill Devil Hills Police Department say that Neviah is currently in the custody of Chesapeake Department of Social Services, safe and unharmed.

The AMBER Alert has been cancelled and Dare County Department of Social Services is making arrangements to pick up Neviah.
