Currituck Co., N.C. – Currituck County has announced the increase in electronic recycling sites from three to six for residents.

Recently the Barco and Knotts Island Recycling Centers, as well as the Corolla Library were the only sites to recycle items such as computer equipment, fax machines, scanners and televisions. Now, there will be new Recycling Centers at Moyock, Powells Point, and Shawboro.

Currituck County ranked 12th out of 100 counties in North Carolina in total public recycling in per capita recovery, with 197.7 pounds recovered per person in the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year.

Currituck County’s eight Recycling Centers are open seven days a week for county residents.

The sites collect items such as cooking oil, dry cell batteries, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper, glass, yard waste, appliances, antifreeze, motor oil, diesel fuel, and transmission fluid.
