Wet was the word in Hampton Roads Wednesday and drenched is what you were if you were outside too long.
Many people who tried to challenge the standing water from the coastal flooding this afternoon ended up getting stuck in the high standing water.
At the Oceanfront, the wind gusts kept pounding people.
"Even though it's not actually a tropical storm here, it feels like it,” said one resident.
On Washington Street in Olde Towne Portsmouth, a man's head shake said it all.
Wednesday's errands were put on Thursday's to-do list.
Today's flooded streets and hard rain were cause to call it a day.
Puddles turned into pools and eventually washed out streets.
Many drivers had to turn around and figure out another way to head home which caused traffic in some areas.
By nightfall the high tide had subsided, but the relentless rain showed no signs of doing the same.
