Football returned to Washington, the team's first game in eight months, after an off-season filled with calls to change the team's name.

"It's one of the names that's been synonymous with football for years and years," said David Likens. "I don't see anything wrong with that."

"I understand the problem, but it's the Redskins," said Amy Whisman of Virginia Beach.

Native American groups are running radio ads across NFL cities saying they feel the name is offensive.

"I have Native American in my heritage," said Scott DeLosh of Virginia Beach. "It's tradition. I don't think it's anything derogatory."

"It wouldn't sound right if they change the name," said Whisman.

New Republic, Mother Jones and Slate Magazine won't say it. Washington City Paper is calling them the Pigskins. But there is one man who is not on board at all with the name change and that's notorious owner Dan Snyder. He was quoted saying, "We'll never change the name. It's that simple. Never."

"In 2013, everyone wants to be PC man, that's the new thing," said DeLosh. "I just, that's not my thing. You want to rename them as far as the pigskins or whatever, they're always going to be the Redskins. Whatever name you put, they're always going to be the Redskins no matter what."

The only concern for fans on this night wasn't whether anyone was offended by the team's name, but if they can play better on Sunday.
