A new pest is bugging a lot of farmers all over the commonwealth of Virginia these days.

Every swipe of a net brings a new discovery right here in Hampton Roads.

Meet the kudzu bug. While these little creatures, native to Asia, typically reproduce and feed on the kudzu plant it's named after, they've been showing up more and more in big numbers in soybean fields.

It appeared first in Georgia in 2009 and since then the bug has spread rapidly north to Virginia.

If crops are left untreated from pesticides, the bugs could cause low yields and less money in a farmer's wallet.

Soybean fields are a kudzu bug's buffet and a lot of farmers are having problems with them. Homeowners could have their own problems, especially as we get a little closer to fall.

In some states, kudzu bugs have been found around door frames and gutters and have been known to cause rashes to people as well.
