Newport News, Va. - Police have arrested three people in connection to a violent home invasion that took place in July.

According to police, Christopher Adams, 21, was arrested Monday and Kenneth Banguera, 19, and Jared Abraham Rivera Arroyo, 23, turned themselves in on Tuesday.

The home invasion they're charged with happened around 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 at a home on Cheryl Circle. Police say a family woke up to find three men in their house.

According to a complaint affidavit, the men were armed with machetes and a baseball bat and tied up the husband, wife and their son with zip-ties.

The husband was hit in the head twice with the bat and in the ribcage with the machete, causing a welt.  Police say the wife and 14-year-old son were not injured.

According to the affidavit, one of the men then went through the house and took money, phones, jewelry and credit cards.

The men then took off and a neighbor says the wife came to her house for help.

When police got to the home, K-9  were used, but the affidavit says the track ended a short distance away.

It was more than two weeks later when the affidvait says Adams was pulled over for a traffic stop.  It goes on to say that the officer smelled marijuana and searched the car, finding a machete, zip-ties, a ski mask, jewelry and credit cards belonging to victims from the home invasion.

His arrest led police to the other two suspects.

All three are now facing a long list of charges including robbery and abduction.  They're being held in the Newport News city jail.
