Norfolk, Va. - Police have charged Robert Adkison with child pornography after search warrants show they found hundreds of images on his cell phone.

Adkison had just celebrated his 40th birthday when he came in late to work last week at a Sonic in Norfolk.

At 2:30 during the overnight shift, Adkison had a heart attack.

A few hours later, while he was still laid up in a hospital bed, he called the Sonic, asking the owner to put his phone in a safe spot.

The frantic and worried tone of the convicted sex offender made his boss suspicious.

So he searched through Adkison's flip phone and says he found hundreds of graphic images, depicting young boys, around the age of five, inappropriately touching grown men.

Police were called to the restaurant and the evidence was collected.

The Sonic boss told police they should check Adkison's truck, which the 40-year-old lived in.

Search warrants show police took another phone, a DVD player, and 16 copies of Tidewater Parent Magazine from inside Adkison's car.

Adkison was convicted of child porn possession in March of 2007.

When he was hired at Sonic, Adkison insisted to his boss that he'd been wrongly accused.

Adkison declined our request to be interviewed.

He's being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
