York County, Va. - Sgt. Eric T. Lawson was one of two Ft. Eustis soldiers killed over the weekend in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. Now the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office says his 13-year-old stepdaughter, Le-Shanna M. Wortham, has run away from her York County home and she may not be aware that he has passed away.

Officials say Le-Shanna ran away from home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Shortly afterward, her mother was told that Sgt. Lawson had been killed.

Lawson and Spc. Caryn E. Nouv were killed when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

Le-Shanna is described as a 13-year-old, African-American female who stands 5’7, is 117 pounds and she has brown hair, brown eyes, and medium/light skin.

Officials say Le-Shanna’s mother requested to have the information released. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s office says they are not sure if Le-Shanna knows what happened to her stepfather.

Please contact police if you have seen her.
