Every time Almeta Harrington wears the size ten pink and grey running shoes, she thinks of her daughter. "

“These are hers and these are mine,” Harrington says. “I've been wearing hers. I said well how about I get you some shoes for Mother's Day and we'll start running."

But her daughter, 41-year-old Sheree Simmons, never got the chance to wear them.

Simmons was found brutally murdered inside her Norfolk home on Hayes Street on May 13. Harrison says she was beaten to death.

"It was such that it was a closed casket funeral and I still don't have closure to this day,” she says.

No closure, because now, months later there is still no one behind bars for Simmons’ murder. And police aren't saying if there's even a suspect in question.

"I don't think that this person has any conscience and he needs to be caught,” Harrington says. “They need to be caught."

Saturday will mark two months to the day since Simmons was found. A vigil will be held for her on Hayes Street at 8 p.m. Saturday.
