Norfolk, Va. - Granby Street, packed with people.

The Fourth of July may belong to the beach, but on the fifth, the crowd flocked downtown.

"It's great to have people downtown and this great energy," said Patrick Mullins. "Yeah it's great to interact with them in this way."

The first Friday of every month for the next four months, the Downtown Norfolk Council will host this festival.

Music filled the air, from a band that was too young to play in any bars, but was talented enough to get the crowd going.

"All this needs to happen, every major city, there should be a designated area in town where it's like an artist walk and people can get together with their families on a nice day whether it's winter, spring, summer or fall," Sean O'Grady of Washington, D.C. said.

For now, First Friday is just until October.

But organizers are working on having this happen again once the weather gets warm next year.
