Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk Police arrested two people Monday night after busting a suspected meth lab near Naval Station Norfolk.

It happened at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Monday. Police officers and narcotics officials located an apparent methamphetamine lab in the 400 block of Forrest Avenue.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Virginia State Police were notified for cleanup, according to Norfolk police.

While Norfolk police have not identified the suspects, neighbors say two men and a woman lived in the house and mostly kept to themselves.

"It comes as a complete surprise, the people just seemed like they were decent people and didn’t have any suspicions of any activity over there," explained Joe Fenno.

Evageline Dixon's parents live just across the street from the house and she was scared when she learned of the bust.

"This neighborhood is like a retirement place. It’s scary; you didn’t know you had a neighbor like that," Dixon commented.

Dixon said she never saw anything amiss but did smell a strong chemical odor several weeks ago.

"There was a smell like Draino. It’s kind of a funky smell," Dixon explained.

The meth lab bust in Norfolk is the third in Hampton Roads in less than a week. On Friday, math labs were busted in both Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
