You’ve heard of Bermuda shorts, but what about the Bermuda High? You may not have heard of it, but you’re certainly feeling it this week!
The Bermuda High is a broad area of high pressure centered near the island nation of Bermuda in the Atlantic. It often develops around this time of the year and can stick around for weeks at a time.

!FacebookThis tends to block cold fronts from making their way into the region. And the clock-wise flow around the high drives in a hot and steamy air mass.

The heat and humidity help fuel occasional showers and thunderstorms, sometimes aided by an afternoon sea breeze.

And because there’s so much moisture in the air, any storms that do develop can bring heavy rain and localized flooding.
So, break out the Bermuda shorts because the Bermuda high will be sticking around for awhile!
