Norfolk, Va. - Family and friends are devastated after a 46-year-old man was killed while riding his bike in a double hit and run in Norfolk Wednesday night.

Friends are building a flower memorial along Ocean View Avenue in Lyalles Downey Westman's memory.

“I`ve never lost a friend. Never. This is my first time ever, and he was my best friend. He did anything for me. I`m down and out,” says John Hill, a friend.

Hill tells NewsChannel 3 that Westman is a father of three and a grandfather.

“He was a good guy, man. He didn`t deserve this,” says Hill.

Hill says he was playing pool with Downey and his son Dustin just minutes before he was killed.

His friends told us that Downey was leaving early, and they kept telling him to wait a couple more minutes.

Then, the next thing they knew, someone came into the bar, and told them that he had been hit.

“Dustin`s right by my side the whole time, holding his daddy`s hand. And I was holding Downey`s head, telling him that we love him, don`t leave us, you`re not going nowhere, you`re gonna be fine,” says Hill.

Police say he was hit by a red sedan and yellow mini-van taxi and neither of the drivers stopped.

“I`m more sad at the fact that two individuals actually struck this man and did not stop. What is going on in your heart that you can`t stop for a second? Maybe he jumped off, maybe he made a mistake and didn`t look, but you could have stopped and helped him. And not one, but two!” says Johnny Walker, a friend.

Police ask if you have any information on who was driving the vehicles, to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
