Beach police, stranding response team work together to save leatherback turtle

Virginia Beach, Va. – One leatherback turtle is back on his journey after Beach police and the stranding response team worked together to save it once it got tangled in a net.

Beach reported the turtle in a pond near Virginia Beach.

The stranding response team responded and they freed the turtle allowing it to swim away gear free.

Leatherback turtles are an endangered species and they are the largest living turtles in the world.
