The Federal Government is dropping its appeal of a judge's order requiring the morning after pill to be sold over the counter, available to minors.

In a letter released Monday, the Justice Department said the Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration would sell the pills to anyone regardless of age.

Many women's rights organizations are calling this a major moment in the fight over reproductive rights.

Conversely, pro-life groups are likely to be upset with this move, believing parents or doctors should be involved in the matter.

This pill can prevent fertilization or prevent a fertilized egg from embedding in the uterus if taken within 72-hours after sex.
