Norfolk Harborfest: Parade of Sail canceled, other events relocated

Norfolk, Va. – Here is a message from Festevents on the impact Tropical Storm Andrea will have on Harborfest:

Due to impending weather concerns, the Harborfest Parade of Sail planned to take place on the Elizabeth River appearing along Town Point Park at noon on Friday June 7th has been canceled.

Sail By festival sailing excursions have also been canceled for Friday June 7th.

All ships scheduled for public visitation on Saturday, June 8th, will open at noon.

HarborFEAST, scheduled for Thursday evening from 6 pm to 9 pm at Town Point Park, will relocate to Nauticus. Nauticus is located adjacent to Town Point Park at 1 Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510.

All HarborFEAST activities, including food, beverage and entertainment, will take place under the Pavilion behind Nauticus. HarborFEAST time remains 6 pm to 9 pm. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new location and tickets will be available at the door.

Many 37th Annual Norfolk Harborfest activities scheduled for Friday June 7, 2013 will relocate to Scope (201 E. Brambleton Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510) and Waterside Festival Marketplace (333 Waterside Drive Norfolk, VA 23510).

Most children’s activities and some stage entertainment, including Katie Ballloons , will relocate to Waterside Festival Marketplace.

National entertainment, including performances by O.A.R., Dirty Guv’nahs and London Souls, will relocate to Scope. Scope shows will be free and open to the public with General Admission seating and floor access. Food, beverage and Harborfest souvenir merchandise will be available at both Waterside Festival Marketplace and Scope.

Free buses will shuttle guests on Friday between both locations beginning at 4 pm Friday and will load and unload guests at the entrance to Waterside Festival Marketplace on Waterside Drive and on Charlotte Street at Scope. Shuttles will run until 11:30 pm Friday night.

All Harborfest activities scheduled for Town Point Park on Friday that have been canceled include All American Cornhole Blast, OBX Jet Pak, Craft Beer Tasting, Omar’s Fountain Café, Harborfest Floating Party Dock, Harborfest Town Point  Market, Waterfall Swing, Radio Harborfest, Harborfest TV, Global Inheritance Energy Playground, TRASHed Recycling Store, Virginia’s Finest Pavilion, Merbellas-See Under the Sea, Penny Farther and Hammock Hangout.  All Harborfest activities scheduled for Town Point Park on Saturday and Sunday remain scheduled as planned.

Advance purchases made for Friday’s Sail Bys will be honored at any scheduled Sail By time on Saturday June 8th and Sunday June 9th. Voucher must be redeemed at least 1 hour before scheduled Sail By time.

Norfolk Harborfest activities scheduled for the rest of the weekend, including fireworks scheduled for 9:30 pm Saturday evening, will continue as planned. All times and activities are subject to change.

Waterside Drive will re-open today and close for the weekend on Saturday June 8th at 5 am. Waterside Drive will re-open at midnight on Sunday June 9th.
