Newport News hotel clerks robbed at gunpoint

Newport News, Va – Two women working at the Extended Stay Hotel located at 11708 Jefferson Avenue were robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, according to police.

Police say around 9:30am one of the ladies was working at the front desk and another was in a back area. A man entered the hotel brandishing a gun.

The man put the gun to the side of the woman at the front desk and ordered her to an area behind the counter.

As the second clerk approached from the back of the hotel, the man ordered her to come with him and he put the gun to her back.

The man demanded money from the safe, but both ladies told him they did not have access to it.

He then took money from the cash register and forced the women to the break room, telling them to stay there.

He left through the back door of the hotel.

The suspect is described as a white male, mid-20’s, 5’8″, slim build, brown hair, unknown color eyes, with a neatly trimmed, short beard. wearing a black Colorado Rockies ball cap with a purple brim, black jacket, black pants with grey “wash” in the front, and black shoes. He was carrying a chrome colored semi-automatic handgun.
