Raccoon tests positive for rabies in Newport News neighborhood

Newport News, Va. – The Department of Public Health on the Peninsula is warning residents about a rabid raccoon that was found in the Crafford Road area in Newport News.

The positive raccoon was found in the mouth of a dog and was sent to the lab in Richmond where it was found to have the rabies virus.
