Suffolk, Va. – City Treasurer Ronald H. Williams would like to remind citizens that all City of Suffolk 2nd Half Real Estate tax bills due on June 5, 2013 have been mailed.

If you own real estate and did not receive a bill, please contact his office to determine if you owe any tax.

State law requires that real estate taxes not paid by June 5 incur a 10% penalty and 10% annual interest.

June 5 or earlier postmarks are accepted. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve penalty and interest.

As you may already be aware, construction of the City of Suffolk’s new Municipal Center is underway. For those taxpayers wishing to pay their June 5 real estate taxes at the downtown Suffolk office, located in the Municipal Center at 441 Market Street, please be aware that current roadwork and construction has temporarily limited parking and disrupted traffic flow.
Paying early or by mail or via the alternate methods listed below are strongly encouraged to save you time and inconvenience.
The staff of the City Treasurer’s Office will be available during this collection time to address any concerns you may have, and to make the process as convenient as possible.

• You can pay your bill online using Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express. A convenience fee will be added to your charge. Go to http://www.suffolkva.us/trsr/ (you will need your current tax bill with your 9 digit account number).

• You can also pay by telephone by calling 1-888-2PAY TAX (1-888-272-9829) and follow the instructions using jurisdiction code 1076 and your 9 digit account number. A convenience fee will be added to your charge.

The City Treasurer’s office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a Drop Box is located in front of the Municipal Center, 441 Market St. and in front of their North Suffolk office location at 2000 Bennetts Creek Park Road in the Library Building, with 24 Hour availability.

For more information about tax payments, or to inquire about the services of the Suffolk City Treasurer’s Office, please visit their website at http://www.suffolkva.us/trsr/ or email them at citytreasurer@suffolkva.us.

Due to current and anticipated high volume of telephone calls, email is the best way to reach their office.
