The owner of the Ramada Inn Hotel at 1450 N. Military Highway (Pride Group LLC) has settled a lawsuit with the family of a young boy who suffered permanent brain injuries after falling from a hotel walkway in 2011.

According to court documents, the group settled with the family of Elijah Clayton, now 4-years-old, for $10.9 million.

The lawsuit claimed the hotel failed to repair and/or warn the family of the dangerous conditions on the property, namely the missing baluster on the second floor where Elijah fell through.

Nearly $203,000 will go towards Elijah’s medical bills, close to $4 million to attorney’s fees, and the rest will be put into a trust for Elijah when he gets older.
