A man in his 50s was rescued from the construction site of the new Norfolk Public Library on Friday morning after having a medical emergency.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue was dispatched at 10:26 a.m. and arrived on scene two minutes later. They found the man on the 5th floor unable to walk on his own.

Due to the construction of the building, a technical rescue team was called in to find the best way to get the man down to the ground.

Personnel provided advance life support while equipment was brought to the 5th floor to rescue the man.

Norfolk Technical Rescue Team packaged the man into a rescue litter and brought him down the stairwell safely.

He was then placed on a stretcher and transported to a hospital for further treatment.
