Virginia Beach, Va. – People in Virginia Beach took action Saturday to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

A two mile run, organized by Core Events and Z104, was held at the oceanfront.  After a moment of silence, runners and walkers took off down the boardwalk.

It wasn’t a timed run or competition, though.  Organizers wanted the focus to be on coming together to show support for people who were injured and the families who lost loved ones.

“We want to be there and let them know, hey we remember this and we’re not going to forget what happened, and we’re going to donate, and we’re going to be there for those families to make sure they receive the support that they need to move on from the tragedy that’s happened in their life,” said Ryan Boyce, one of the organizers.

Participants paid $15 to take part in the run.

All of the money raised is being sent to “One Fund Boston” which was formed specifically to help people most affected by the bombings.
