Millions of Americans are skipping life-saving medical care because they just can't afford it.

The Commonwealth Fund survey found 80 million people didn't go to the doctor or get other medical services last year because of the costs.

That's five million more than two years ago and 17 million more than in 2003.

Those who were uninsured or had inadequate health insurance were most likely to have trouble affording care.

The numbers are expected to improve as more health care reform provisions take effect in 2014.
