A 17-year-old I.C. Norcom High School student was arrested Friday after he made a bomb threat in class.

According to Portsmouth Police, a teacher asked 11th grade male student to leave the classroom and reported to the principal’s office for instructions on a parent-teacher conference.

The student refused and became agitated, then stated there was about to be a bombing in the school.

The student reconfirmed the statement by telling the teacher he was serious.

The School Resource Officer responded and placed the student into custody. He has been charged with one threat to bomb.

After appearing before Portsmouth Juvenile Intake, the student was ordered to remain in the custody of the Chesapeake Juvenile Detention Center, pending a hearing in court.

Due to the age of the student, his identity is being withheld.  The school was not placed on lock down.
