Virginia Beach, Va. - The multi-million dollar Light Rail expansion project took center stage at Tuesday's Virginia Beach City Council meeting.

Starting next week, you can sound off about what's next with The Tide.

The $235 million Light Rail extension project was the topic of conversation in Tuesday's city council meeting, as Mayor Sessoms and city council members agreed to open the topic up to public comment on April 23.

They say they're still several phases away from actually approving anything, but they've agreed to move the project forward to see what community members have to say about it.

During the discussion, a private development team explained basic details of the project that would extend the rail from Newtown Road to Rosemont Road.

The extension would add three new stations at Witchduck, Pembroke, and Rosemont - the developers showed sketches of what they would look like.

Mayor Sessoms says plans could always change, but after extending the rail to Rosemont, he could see going all the way to the Naval Base farther into the future.
