The fields are alive at Azalea Little League in Norfolk. There are eight fields out here---Sunday through Saturday evenings there are games and that means the concession stand is buzzing. And the person in charge is Rosa Gregory. Well someone sent us an email about her---fellow volunteer Courtney Spence wanted us to surprise her with a People Taking Action award.

Courtney wrote in her email, "Rosa is a very hard working person that consistently gives back to the community." Courtney also stated in the email that Rosa manages the concession stand, so she's up at the ball fields every night---she's also an assistant coach, plus vice president of a special baseball division for kids with disabilities...all of it as volunteer!

How did it all start? Rosa tells me that, "Two of my boys have down syndrome that's why they play in the challenger division and I started coming up for them to play ball  and it just grew."

But before she comes to the ball fields--her day starts at 5:30 in the morning as a bus driver in Virginia Beach! She doesn't leave the fields til 9:30 at night. For all of her volunteer work we presented her with a People Taking Action award, plus presented her with a $100 Visa gift card from our community partner Southern Bank.

Rosa told me, "I'm surprised I don't I would never expect anything like this because that's not why I come up here everyday and do it."
