More arsons reported on the Eastern Shore

Accomack County, Va. – Two more fires were set Thursday night in Accomack County, however investigators believe only one was the work of a serial arsonist who has set nearly 80 fires since mid-November.

The first fire occurred at approximately 6:12 PM in the 37300 block of Dreadnaught Drive in Greenbackville in a one story single family home that is occupied.

The fire originated in a mulch bed by the front steps, the fire was contained to the steps an there was minimal damage. There was no one at home during the fire. Investigators believe it is arson, but not related to the rest of the arson cases occurring in Accomack County.

The second fire occurred at approximately 11:55 PM at the 36600 Block of Seaside Road, in Painter.

This was an abandoned one story wood frame uninhabitable house, overgrown with trees and thick brush. State Police say the fire has determined as arson and part of the ongoing arson investigation occurring in Accomack County.

Virginia State Police and Accomack Sheriff’s Department continue to ask the public to provide any tips and/or information to the HOTLINE at (757)655-1437.

There continues to be a $25,000.00 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the arsonist.
