Pentagon to cut furlough days for civilian workers from 22 to 14

Civilian defense department workers will only face 14 days without pay instead of 22, according to the Associated Press.

Officials told the AP Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel made the decision Wednesday as military and defense leaders continue to decide how to allocate the more than $10 billion Congress shifted to operations accounts in the latest budget deal.

Initial plans had called for civilian workers to be forced to take one day off without pay for 22 weeks.
