Family claims NJ overreacted to photo of young boy holding gun

Carneys Point, N.J. – A photo of a little boy holding a gun he received from his dad as a birthday gift caused quite a stir in one New Jersey town according to Yahoo News.

The weapon he was holding in the Facebook photo resembles a military-style assault rifle. His father says it is a .22-caliber copy.

Now the family says they believe the state overreacted to the photo when officials paid them a visit and asked to see their guns.

The family thinks someone may have called in a tip to authorities.

The father says he gave his son the gun to use on hunting trips.
