Vacant home burns at Fort Boykin Historic Park in Isle of Wight County

The fire caused heavy damage to the vacant home.

Isle of Wight County, Va. – A vacant home owned by Isle of Wight County at Fort Boykin Historic Park suffered heavy damage in a fire Wednesday morning.

The fire was first reported at 10:08 am at the park located about 2 1/2 miles north of Smithfield.

The heat from the flames also caused minor damage to a restroom facility in front of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
