Police find car, still looking for suspect in Norfolk double homicide

Update: Norfolk Police have located the suspect vehicle in the 2800 block of Villa Circle, in the Villa Heights Apartments complex.The vehicle is partially burned, and appears to have been there since Saturday morning. Anyone who might have seen the vehicle or any suspicious activity in that area is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Norfolk, Va. – According to Norfolk Police, homicide detectives have identified Javou Jameil Smith, 31, as a suspect in the double homicide that occurred on Friday in the 600 block of Cornwallis Lane.

Warrants issued for Smith include two charges of  Murder and, two charges of Use of Firearm according to police.

Police say Smith is considered armed and dangerous.  He is known to frequent the Lake Edwards, Dylan Drive, Southgate and Potter’s Road areas of Virginia Beach.

An intensive search is ongoing for Smith.

Smith is accused of fatally shooting Ervin A. Peeples, 46, and Aalon Smith, 34, both of Dreweyville, Va.

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. in the 6600 block of Cornwallis Lane near Newtown Road.
