Virginia Beach, Va. – A 22-year-old man is now charged with felony animal abuse in the death of a 4-month-old female kitten.

On Friday, March 1 an Animal Control Officer was called to assist police while investigating a domestic incident in the 1900 block of King Henry Court.

The Animal Control Officer arrived on scene and found a kitten that had been killed earlier in the day by its owner, police tell NewsChannel 3.

The owner had already been transported to the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on an unrelated charge.

Investigators learned that a 4-month-old female cat named Lola died due to physical trauma. A subsequent necropsy revealed the cat died from blunt force trauma to the head.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Kevin T. Bramble, of the 1900 block of King Henry Court. Bramble was charged with Felony Animal Cruelty and is currently being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

Investigators are trying to find more information on whether or not anyone has sold or given Bramble any pets possibly through websites such as Craigslist. Police believe he may have purchased other animals, and officers are trying to learn their whereabouts.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to call the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Office at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887). Callers remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.

The case remains under investigation by the Department’s Animal Enforcement Unit.
