Crews put out kitchen fire at Newport News apartment
Newport News, Va. –Fire crews in Newport News responded to an apartment fire on Christopher Newport Dr. at around 2:49 p.m.
Crews say they arrived to find a small kitchen fire in the apartment. It was under control at around 3:06 p.m. officials say.
The kitchen was damaged and will be condemned. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries.
Officials say they are still investigating the cause of the fire but they suspect that unattended cooking materials may have started the fire.
