Update: Virginia Beach police recover pickup truck that was stolen in Cape Hatteras

Update: The Toyota truck stolen from the Cape Hatteras Secondary School Friday, March 4, has been recovered by the Virginia Beach Police Department within its jurisdiction. 

Virginia Beach dispatched a forensic evidence unit to process the vehicle.  Dare County investigators are working with the Virginia authorities to identify a suspect.  

Buxton, NC – Dare County investigators have teamed up with Norfolk detectives to find a stolen pickup truck, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

According to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, a person participating in Career Day at the Cape Hatteras Secondary School had their vehicle had been stolen from the School parking lot.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video cameras in the area and found that the theft occurred at about 9:38 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’5 to 5’6 in height, with medium length brown hair, under 20 years old, wearing a brown “hoodie”.

It was later discovered that someone fitting the above description used a credit card that was found in the vehicle in the Norfolk, Virginia area.

The Norfolk Virginia Police Department Auto Theft Squad was notified and is now working with Dare Investigators.

The vehicle is a silver 2007 Toyota Tundra truck, NC registration OBX22354, and has not been reported recovered at this time.
