State police investigate four more fires on the Eastern Shore; Total climbs to 58

UPDATE: Virginia State Police and fire personnel are investigating two new probable arsons on the Eastern Shore Monday night. If confirmed they would bring the total since mid-November to 60.

Accomack County, Va. - State police are investigating four more suspicious fires that took place over the weekend on the Eastern Shore.

The latest one happened Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. at an uninhibited house located in the 16000 block of Pungoteague Road in Accomack County.

The structure was fully engulfed in flames when units arrived and no injuries were reported. Arson is suspected in this fire, but at this time it is still under criminal investigation.

Three other weekend fires are also being investigated.

One happened early Sunday morning at around 3 a.m.

Virginia State Police and firefighters were called to a fire at an abandoned trailer in Withams, Va. located at the intersection of Jenkins Bridge Road and Horsey Road.

The trailer was destroyed and police say arson is suspected.  No one was injured.

Two other suspicious fires in Accomack County were reported on Saturday.  In one an uninhabited trailer burned to the ground in the 22500 block of New Branch Road in Accomack County around 9:47 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The first blaze on Saturday began around 3:15 a.m. on Bayside road in Onancock. The small, dilapidated structure also burned to the ground.

There have now been 58 arsons reported on the Eastern Shore since mid-November.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information on the Accomack County fires that leads to an arrest and conviction.
