Update: Newport News man turns himself in after allegedly abducting ex-girlfriend
Update: Police say the victim and the suspect came to police headquarters at around 8:15 p.m. They say the victim is safe and the suspect is on the way to jail.
Police say after the news coverage, people called the suspect and convinced him to turn himself in.
Newport News, Va.–According to Newport News police, at about 3:40 this afternoon, a 19-year-old Newport News woman was with other family members in a shopping center parking lot in the 12900 block of Jefferson avenue when her ex-boyfriend approached her and her family.
They say there was a fight and 19-year-old Jimira Walton forced Kian Savage into his car and drove off southbound on Jefferson Avenue in a blue Ford Explorer with Virginia tags XCW-5186.
The victim, Kian Savage, is 5′ 4″ tall, 160 to 190 lbs. and her hair is currently worn in a ponytail.
Warrants are on file for Walton’s arrest for abduction and assault and battery.
