There were emotional pleas Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

Parents who lost their young children in the Sandy Hook massacre testified before a Senate committee.

This once again, put the polarizing "gun control" debate in the forefront.

One father implored Congress to ban assault weapons while he spoke through tears.

He said he dropped his son off at school and the 6-year-old was gunned down 20 minutes later.

"He said everything`s gonna be OK dad, it`s all gonna be OK, and it wasn't OK. I had to go home that night to an empty house without my son, something that should have never happened at an elementary school."

Critics say the Obama Administration is trying to strip away second amendment rights.

The National Rifle Association is beefing up its campaign against gun proposals from the White House.
