A big honor today for Virginia Beach firefighters who took action during last year's jet crash.

The fire department won the Virginia governor's fire service award for "outstanding fire response."

The award was presented this morning during the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association Expo and Symposium at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

It recognizes the department's quick and well-coordinated response on April 6th when an F-18 jet crashed into the Mayfair Mews apartment complex.

There were no fatalities.

Speaking at the event this morning mayor Will Sessoms said it was his proudest moment as mayor.
