Virginia Beach, Va. – Military moms and dads are faced with the challenges of rearing healthy, productive children. However, parenting can be more daunting when consistent deployments and frequent moves become a part of everyday life for military-connected students.

On Monday, Feb. 25, Dr. Ken Ginsburg, a national speaker, pediatrician, parent, and the author of Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings, will conduct a parent workshop specifically addressing the needs of military students and families.

The event will be held at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek at the Brashear Conference Center from 9-11 a.m.

Parents will learn effective strategies to assist their children to better manage stress while building resilience.

During his presentation, Ginsburg will focus on the 7 Crucial Cs — competence, confidence, connection, character, contribution, coping and control — to help parents foster optimism, motivation and healthy behaviors in their children.

This event is free, however, seating is limited and registration is required.

Parents wishing to attend the event must have a military decal on their vehicle to gain entry to the base. For further information, please call 757.462.4483 or 757.422.7101, ext. 238.
