Virginia Beach, Va. - A trial date has now been set for the man accused of killing off-duty police Officer Victor Decker.

February 25, 2014, is the day that Raymond Perry will go on trial. He is accused of killing off-duty police Officer Victor Decker in Virginia Beach. The trial date was set this morning in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.

In order for that trial date to be set, Perry had to agree to waive his right to a speedy trial. Perry now also has a second attorney - he is entitled to two lawyers, since he faces the death penalty.

It was almost two years after Decker's murder before an arrest was made.

Decker was killed in October of 2010, outside of a club on Oceana Boulevard. He was off-duty at the time.

Police say Perry and an accomplice followed Decker out of the club, where they killed him and took his wallet. Perry was arrested last summer, after jailhouse informants came forward with information about Perry. He has denied the charges. In an interview with NewsChannel 3, he says he is innocent and that fellow inmates are lying to receive reduced sentences.

There is a second suspect charged in this case, but he does not face the death penalty at this point. His preliminary hearing will be held in March.
