Suffolk

In observance of the Presidents Day holiday, Suffolk City offices will be closed Monday, February 18, 2013. Normal operations will resume Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 8:30 a.m.

The city observes all state-designated holidays. Presidents Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and all state offices are closed on this day.

The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013.

All Suffolk City Libraries will be closed Monday, February 18, 2013.

The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Saturday, February 16 through Monday, February 18, 2013.

Suffolk Joint Use Recreation Centers will be closed on Monday, February 18, however, these centers will only open for scheduled youth league athletic practices.

East Suffolk Recreation Center will be closed on Monday, February 18.

Suffolk’s four major parks – Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole,
and Bennett’s Creek will remain open Monday, February 18, 2013; however, no park attendant will be on duty.

The Suffolk Executive Airport will be open and manned normal hours on Monday, February 18.

Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled next week. TFC Recycling will also conduct their normal recycling collection routes. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 514-7630.

The Southeastern Public Safety Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open Monday, February 18, 2013, from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The Regional Landfill will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2013.

Norfolk

The City of Norfolk’s government offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2013 in observance of Presidents’ Day. The closures include the offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue and the City Treasurer. Offices will reopen at regular business hours on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and the City’s recreation centers will also be closed on Monday, February 18, 2013 and reopen on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

All libraries will be closed on Sunday, February 17 and Monday, February 18, 2013 and reopen at regular business hours on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

No garbage collection is scheduled for Monday and The Division of Waste Management’s administrative offices will be closed.

All requests for bulk waste pickup on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 must be called in or submitted HERE no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013. Additionally, the e-waste and household hazardous waste collection facilities will be closed, Monday, February 18, 2013 and will open as scheduled on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

The Division of Towing and Recovery, located at 1195A Lance Road, is open 24 hours per day and will be remain open on Monday, February 18, 2013. Electronic waste and paper for shredding can be dropped-off at the towing division.

Chesapeake

In observance of the upcoming Presidents’ Day holiday, all City offices, courts, libraries and community centers will be CLOSED on Monday, February 18. Library book drops will remain open for the return of materials.

There will be no changes to the trash or recycling collection schedules. Normal operating schedules will resume on Tuesday, February 19.

Newport News

Newport News City offices will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2013 in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) stores will be open Presidents Day, Monday, February 18, 2013.

The Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18th, in observance of Presidents Day.
