Police search for man who robbed woman in downtown Suffolk

police Suffolk, Va. – Police are now investigating a strong-armed robbery that happened Monday morning in downtown Suffolk.

Officials say it happened Monday morning, February 11, 2013, outside of the Bank of America located in the 200 block of West Washington Street in downtown Suffolk. At 10:35 a.m., an employee of a local business was at the bank to make a deposit. As she got out of her vehicle, she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed the deposit bag which held an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect then raw away from the scene in the direction of the Morgan Memorial Library, located at 443 West Washington Street.

No weapon was displayed, and the victim was not injured, officials tell NewsChannel 3. Police say the male suspect was seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans and approximately 5’7 and weighing 180 pounds.

Anyone who may have information on this case is asked to contact Suffolk Police or the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.

When calling Crime Line, callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
